The National Systems Group serves as the technical adviser to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.
The Digital Engineering and GEOINT Ground Platforms team is looking for a Senior Project Leader to manage Aerospace's efforts in modernizing the Overhead Persistence Infrared (OPIR) Ground enterprise. By joining this team, you are putting yourself in a position to directly influence both NRO and NGA ground architectures and to be part of innovating resilient solutions that trade desires against acquisition, political, and war-fighting realities.
This position requires 100% on-site work in Chantilly, VA.
What You'll Be Doing
- Serves as a senior technical advisor to US Government leadership in acquiring state-of-the-art software applications for deployment into a commercial cloud environment
- Leads and orchestrates teams of Aerospace subject matter experts in maturing new technologies, integrating new systems and sensors, and delivering a resilient, responsive ground architecture
- Collaborates with an agile team of technical professionals and industry software developers to rapidly field new software capabilities in a dynamic mission environment
- Proactively identifies new technologies and commercially available capabilities for integration into the framework
- Coordinates with enterprise stakeholders to ensure that user needs are properly understood and satisfied
- Partners with the US Government in formulating strategies for achieving its architectural vision
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or related field from a recognized institution
- Typically, 12 or more years of increasingly responsible and professional engineering/scientific experiences
- Experience in one of more of the following domains: mission control or mission processing systems for space systems, geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) architectures, systems engineering, or software development
- Demonstrated ability to lead and orchestrate high-performing teams of engineering professionals
- This position requires the ability to have and maintain a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance with polygraph, which is issued by the US Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree in imaging science, computer science/engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field
- Certifications in Systems Engineering, or Test & Evaluation
- Experience with agile-based software development (i.e. SAFe), commercial cloud environment, and DevOps pipeline implementation
