We are seeking a motivated, results-oriented Materials Manager to continue to raise our high bar in manufacturing leadership.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a high energy, self-starter to drive overall plant performance improvement and promote a high-performance culture. This position will report to the Plant Manager and be responsible for the SIOP and materials management systems and leading a team of direct reports for the Charlotte, NC Commercial Applied facility.

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Responsible for implementing strategies for materials management and SIOP.
  • Ensures plant/manufacturing is aligned with short-term and long-term market trends. Partners with all supply functions (manufacturing, quality, procurement) to ensure robust plans are developed to execute against demand forecasts/orders.
  • Develops metrics to drive results and continuous improvement, focused on Real Time Problem Solving of leading indicators.
  • Exercise strong leadership in implementing positive materials systems changes focused on cost, performance and successfully manage the day-to-day operations of materials.
  • Understanding the current materials management systems and flow of materials within the Charlotte, NC Commercial Applied facility.
  • Partner with local and corporate supply chain teams to build Charlotte's Supplier Development program driving supplier OTD to 98%
  • Responsible for materials forecasting, plant scheduling, material planning, production scheduling, raw materials and parts replenishment, inventory control and materials flow to each line.
  • Development and maintenance of optimum inventory levels to increase on-time deliveries and material velocity and inventory reduction.
  • Apply lean manufacturing experience including value stream mapping, leveling demand, Kanban calculations, lead time reduction, visual management and demonstrated competency in solution development dealing with reducing cost structure.
  • Determination of Kanban and/or lot sizing, just-in-time arrival and distribution to end user internal customers.
  • Determining shipping and handling containers, carts, materials, and visual management from point of origin to point of use delivery on the lines.
  • Develop, coach and lead a team of direct reports.


EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS:
  • BA/BS degree (required): concentration in Operations, Engineering or Materials Management.
  • Master's degree is a plus
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (APICS or ISM) is preferred


EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience
  • Management/supervisory experience preferred
  • Highly motivated and organized, with excellent project management skills and be comfortable at providing briefings for all levels of management and key customer contacts
  • Advanced materials management skills including Planning, Warehousing, Inventory Control, Receiving/Logistics, and/or Manufacturing Engineering required
  • Understanding of JIT, ERP/MRP and other leading-edge inventory/demand flow management systems
  • Strong track record of implementing efficiency change utilizing techniques in a low volume discreet manufacturing operation is critical
  • Experience in successfully collaborating with a 3PL partner provider is a plus
  • Organized and collaborative decision making and work style
  • Detail-oriented, organized and proven ability to set strategic priorities
  • Demonstrated analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, possess strong prioritization and project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to assess the needs of the business to design and implement the best solutions
  • Advanced Computer proficiency in systems including Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, PPT and Word)
  • Technical knowledge / understanding of the HVAC product industry or ability to learn expeditiously
