ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a focus on observability & monitoring , you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining observability solutions & processes that provide deep insights into the health and performance of our infrastructure and applications .
Duties/Responsibilities
Design and Implement Observability Solutions:
- Develop and deploy monitoring, logging, and tracing systems to ensure comprehensive visibility into our infrastructure and applications.
- Implement metrics, dashboards, and alerting systems to provide real-time insights and proactive issue detection.
Collaborate with Development , Operations a n d ITSM Teams:
- Work closely with development, operations, and other SRE teams to understand their observability needs and provide guidance on best practices.
- Participate in the design and review of new features and infrastructure changes to ensure observability requirements are met.
- Contribute to incident management and improve processes where required .
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in our observability stack and drive initiatives to enhance system reliability and performance.
- Set and maintain guidelines and processes for SLOs
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in observability and SRE practices.
Automation and Tooling:
- Automate repetitive tasks and improve the efficiency of monitoring and alerting processes.
- Develop and maintain custom tools and scripts to enhance observability capabilities.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years experience as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), DevOps Engineer, or in a similar role.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker).
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Expertise in monitoring, logging, and tracing tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Jaeger, etc.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and networking.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Other Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
- Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards.
- Relevant certifications (Google, Datadog, Hashicorp preferred).
- Contributions to open-source observability projects.
