About the Role: 

We are looking for a qualified Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team in San Diego, CA.  You will be hired to help product teams build and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure applications in the cloud.

Our platform runs entirely in the cloud, both AWS and Azure, and most of our applications and services are containerized, where applicable.  Product teams are responsible for maintaining the health of their applications in production by utilizing the observability frameworks and operational best practices designed and maintained by the SRE team.  We put a strong emphasis on automation with tools such as Terraform, Chef, Packer, Jenkins, Vault, and custom scripts.

As a Senior SRE, you have a software development background or systems background with strong coding skills. You’re passionate about observability and metrics driven decisions, a DevOps evangelist, and are security minded. You are versed in Agile/Scrum methodologies and are comfortable with giving and taking technical direction.

What You’ll Do:

• On-call duties: Provide support to product teams for critical business applications in production
• Setup standardized observability tools to empower product teams to maintain and improve their applications
• Improve the resiliency of applications and systems using chaos engineering
• Help product teams define SLOs and error budgets
• Write software to solve operations problems
• Build tools to improve stability and reliability of systems including local environments and deployment pipelines
• On-call and incident management process optimization
• Consult with product teams on deployment, monitoring, security, and operational best practices

What We're Looking For:

• Software development background or systems background with strong coding skills
• Experience defining SLIs, SLOs, and Error Budgets
• Managing containerized applications in production, ideally using Kubernetes
• CI/CD pipeline development
• Configuration Management Tools (Salt, Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
• Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Strong desire to automate
• DevOps evangelist
• Security minded
• Emphasis on documentation to avoid tribal knowledge
• Desire to learn new technologies while supporting existing
