About The Role

The AgentOps team is focused on maintaining and expanding a worldwide fleet of vantage points that aim to cover user experience from a geographical and service provider perspective.  The team is responsible for all aspects of our platform's global infrastructure, such as availability, performance, change management, capacity planning, monitoring and emergency response. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer on the team, you will focus on all aspects of reliability for the ThousandEyes global monitoring infrastructure.

We are looking for talented engineers with a mix of software and/or operations background, deep knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/UDP, IP, DNS, TLS), Kubernetes and Linux Systems Administration from a performance standpoint.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and work closely with software engineers to quickly and accurately identify any software bugs and provide pointers on performance or architecture improvements.
• Design, implement and maintain an ever growing, hybrid (bare-metal and virtualized) global infrastructure.
• Design, deploy, and maintain a custom infrastructure deployment model from the ground up that includes bare metal servers and virtualized infrastructure from all cloud providers
• Drive and build automation wherever possible, enabling our infrastructure and platforms to scale effortlessly. Think self-service.
• Participate in and contribute to improve our 24x7 incident response and on-call rotation.
• Capacity planning for the infrastructure and platform and help teams prepare for growth.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across our infrastructure and platform services.

Required skills

• Ability to design and implement scalable and well tested solutions with focus on Kubernetes and terraform deployments. 
• Ability to write high quality code in Python, Go, or equivalent languages.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code skills, ideally with Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Good knowledge of cloud provider managed services (ideally AWS), and how they can be leveraged in our context.
• Good understanding of Unix/Linux systems, the kernel, system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols.
• Good understanding of network protocols (primarily IP, IPv6, TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP, TLS).
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Strong sense of ownership, drive and an obsessive attention to detail.
