Position Overview

Want to help make a better world? As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Autodesk, you can do just that. How is this possible? As a member of the team responsible for operating critical platform services, you will contribute to and improve the operation of mission-critical components that power nearly all Autodesk desktop, mobile, and web applications. These services are main business enablers serving millions of customers every day. The responsibilities of this role are part of the foundation for attaining and maintaining our customers' trust to build their business around Autodesk's commercial offerings.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you were serve as a primary point responsible for building the SRE practice that is focused on the health, availability, performance, and capacity of one or more of our production services. You will also partner with development teams through the stages of development, to ensure systems are designed with both function and scalability in mind. You will be passionate about operations and have an "Automation first" mindset to lead scale.

You will report to a Software Development Manager in San Francisco, CA.

You will operate in a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our engineering teams to improve performance and reliability for new feature development
  • Design, write, document, test, and deliver software to improve product availability, scalability, and performance
  • Build and maintain the site reliability practices across the organization
  • Work with infrastructure and internal tools to operate, maintain, and optimize highly available production systems
  • Coordinate and perform major upgrades with zero downtime
  • Create tools to automate requests made of your team instead of treating each request as a manual task
  • Participate in an on-call rotation alongside development teams
  • Keep supported services compliant with the company and regulatory requirements including but not limited to security, privacy, SOC-2, and FedRAMP
  • Implement and improve monitoring an alerting
  • Build, automate, and improve observability dashboards to provide better visibility in the operational aspects of the systems

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of production level Site Reliability Engineering
  • 5+ years Commercial cloud experience building and maintaining AWS or Azure offerings for large-scale enterprises
  • 5+ years scripting experience in at least one scripting language such as Python, Node.js, or TypeScript
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
  • Experience working with containerized applications and Docker
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise building and maintaining relational databases such as MySQL
  • Strong experience with AWS services such as Aurora/RDS, ECS/Fargate, IAM, DynamoDB
  • Experience with networking and security technologies such as ALBs, Route 53, and Security Groups
  • Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana
  • Experience with multi-repo GIT code bases, REST-based web services, testing frameworks such as Blazemeter, shell scripts, automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Agile software development practices

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $110,300 and $190,300. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
