Senior Software Backend Engineer-Team Application Perspectives (f/m/x)

At Instana we process and analyze millions of spans traces metrics and events per second in order to provide actionable APM intelligence to our rapidly expanding customer base. Team Application Perspectives is at the heart of the Instana structure – we are responsible for ingesting distributed traces from a distributed system processing and storing these trace calls and providing dashboards and visualizations allowing users to troubleshoot issues in their environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a member of the Application Perspectives team your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborate with Product Management and implement feature roadmaps
• Develop maintain and further improve the distributed tracing data pipeline
• Contribute to performance optimization
• Review code changes
• Handle issues reported by our customers

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 3+ years professional experience programming Java
• Good code writing discipline and an eye for code efficiency
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving techniques
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Permission to work in the EU

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Hands on experience with distributed tracing and application performance monitoring
• Experience with functional reactive programming paradigm ideally Project Reactor
• Columnar database or OLAP database experience ideally ClickHouse
• Experience with data intensive applications
