We’re looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to support our customer and join our passionate team of high-impact problem solvers. This is a unique opportunity to help build and shape a game-changing organization where we put our customers and people first.

About the role:

Raft is building a real-time data platform for the Department of Defense (DoD), aimed at enhancing operators' awareness of critical events, including instances like the Chinese balloon and Cessna over the White House incidents. Central to this data platform is the aggregation of real-time data from over 750 sensors. This data is subsequently enriched, rendered queryable, and ultimately presented as a common operational picture to empower operators in making time critical and pertinent decisions. Our system efficiently handles the processing of over a billion events daily, all achieved with millisecond-level latency. Key technologies include Kafka, Kafka Streams, Pinot, Java, Scala, and Kubernetes. Your involvement in this role will encompass hands-on collaboration with a team of accomplished individuals, collectively striving towards excellence

What we are looking for:

• Java or Scala or Kotlin
• Experience with Kafka and Kafka Streams
• Experience creating web-socket and RESTFul APIs
• 3 to 6 years of experience being hands on engineer
• Work well with-in the team and be able to make decisions that align to the teams north stars
• Curious about time series and geospatial data
• Bachelors in Computer Science / Engineering / Physics / Mathematics background

Highly preferred:

• Current or a Clearance in the past
• Hands on experience with time-series data in PostgreSQL or another SQL flavored database

Clearance Requirements:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance

Work Type:

• Remote with 25% travel to customer site (JBAB or EADS) when needed
