Job Summary:
KBR is searching for an experienced Senior Software Engineer/Architect in Huntsville, AL to join our team. In this role, the successful applicant will be responsible for applying their knowledge and experience with software design and architecture to an Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) Open Systems Architecture (OSA).
Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for the planning, development and execution of the Software Aspects of an Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) System to achieve successful integration with an existing Aviation Platform. Candidate will engage with both the Army Aviation Customer as well as sub-tier suppliers to ensure that the Software Solution is architected in accordance with Future Airborne Capabilities Environment (FACE) standards as well as to meet the Army Aviation Airworthiness Standards. Candidate will be responsible for the overall execution of the Software Integration Strategy including Verification and Validation efforts. Responsible for the daily execution and technical management of complex program efforts in support of an Army Program Office and commercial customers. Candidate will assist in developing strategies, technical implementation plans, and developing technical staffing strategies. Will develop/enhance processes for preparation of and utilization of project plans, financial databases, and processes associated with the execution of prototype engineering and manufacturing projects. - Collects, completes, manages, organizes, and interprets technical data and financial information relating to program execution
- Provides strategy and expertise for emerging compliancy requirements in systems architecture
- Assists the Army customer in coordinating and briefing project information as well as assisting the Army customer in solutioning based on specified customer requests
- Develops program estimates for new business and manages cost expended against legacy budgets
- Develops/maintains tracking techniques to monitor program execution, using existing information and reporting systems
- Manages contractual requirements to ensure successful contract performance for multiple contract vehicles
- Provides oversight and expertise for DO-178C related audits and artifacts
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- 10 years direct experience with aviation engineering/integration activities
- Direct and relevant experience with RTCA/DO-178C processes and procedures including experience with Real Time Operating Systems for Safety Critical Design Assurance Level Software
- Direct and relevant experience with RTCA/DO-297 tailored for Army Aviation Modular Avionics Systems
- Must have in depth experience with Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) and FACE definition and architecture approaches for compliance with Army long term vision/requirements
- Experience with Model-based code generation tools and certification aspects associated with the toolsets
- Direct experience with aviation avionics system architecture development for on-platform integration and qualification
- Direct experience supporting Army aviation customer in Huntsville, AL
- Secret Security Clearance is required
- Some travel may be required, job location is Huntsville, AL
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
As a Plus (+) but not required:
Experience in the areas of:
- Experience with implementation of Safety Critical Software on Multi-Core Processors in accordance with the considerations of CAST-32A and Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD)
- Experience with Army Rotary Wing technology insertion
- Experience with the multiple Army platforms for the required qualification and skills above
