Your Role in Our Journey

We're excited to announce that we’re hiring a Senior Software Developer to join our Billing Group. Our group plays a crucial role in keeping our clinics financially healthy so they can continue to help their clients. We would like to empower customers to bill in a way that best fits their practice receive payment for what they’re owed understand who owes them money and reconcile their bills and payments overtime. We’ve included a snapshot of one of the teams below.

Insurance Foundations: this team plays a pivotal role in shaping the insurance experience both for patients navigating their coverage and for clinics managing billing processes. Our mission is to create a seamless and enjoyable insurance journey. We proudly support thousands of clinics across Canada the US the UK and beyond with the majority of claim submissions processed electronically through our robust integrations with clearinghouses and other systems.

As a member of the Insurance Foundations team you will contribute to the development of the next generation of these essential features while also exploring innovative directions in the field. Your work will be instrumental in defining the technical roadmap for this critical aspect of our platform.

This is a Full Stack Developer position with a focus on the backend. You'll be working with Ruby on Rails but we welcome applicants with experience in Java C# Python or Go. If you don't have Ruby experience we still encourage you to apply. On the frontend you'll be working with React Typescript & bundling tools (Webpack ESBuild…).

The Impact You Could Have

• Contribute to the codebase as a hands-on engineer.

• Identify scope and lead large technical projects laying the groundwork for early-stage product to iteratively evolve and scale and taming complexity and shoring up reliability of existing systems.

• Collaborate with engineers technical leaders and cross-functional groups to ship impactful features that directly impacts our customers.

• Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities user experience and a sustainable technical foundation.

• Own and contribute to the technical direction for the Insurance Foundations.

The Experience We Feel We Need

• Our development team at Jane primarily works with Ruby on Rails but we welcome applicants with experience in Java C# Python and Go. You will have the time support and resources to learn Ruby if you haven't worked with it previously so please don't hesitate to apply if you don't have Ruby on Rails experience.

• Proficiency in modern frontend technologies: React Typescript bundling tools (Webpack ESBuild…)

• Systems design and dealing with technical complexities on solutions or projects.

• The ability to share technical details clearly and a documentation approach that reduces cognitive load for the team and increases shared context of the problem space.

• Applying API design principles.

• Operating within agile methodologies delivering incremental delivery of value to customers working closely with PM and UX Designer.

• Influencing a team from an engineering or operational excellence point of view.

• Developing software in regulated industries like healthcare or payments.

Compensation Expectations for the Role

Jane’s committed to paying our team members fairly clearly and above all paying for growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $117100 and a maximum annual salary of $182900. As you may have noticed this salary range is quite large and this is intentional to account for the growth someone will experience in the role throughout their time at Jane (i.e. from building the skills to accomplished to highly proficient all the way to achieving excellence in the role). When hiring talented folks to join the Jane team we’ve found that new team members are best set up for success when hired with the expectation of being fully accomplished in the role which for this role would reflect a salary between $139000 to $146300. It's also possible to join Jane at a salary above or below this which would mean a salary below $139000 which typically reflects someone who has all the potential to be fully accomplished in the role but doesn't yet possess all the skills required while a salary above $146300 is typically for individuals who are currently in this role at Jane and had the opportunity to make a significant positive impact on our customers product and company with deep Jane knowledge.
