Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Db2 is the cloud-native database built to power low-latency transactions and real-time analytics at scale, used by organizations in mission critical applications for over 30 years. We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join us in modernizing and enhancing containerized Db2 for Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift. You will be working within a global team, solving technical challenges with the latest Kubernetes and Cloud technologies.

As a senior developer with the Db2 containerization team, you will:
• Work in a fast-paced, highly-collaborative environment,
• Design and implement new features to further enhance Kubernetes operator-based Db2 deployments,
• Develop, maintain and execute automated functional, integration, regression and performance tests,
• Work with customers to resolve critical issues, and address defects,
• Act as a scrum-master, to effectively maintain development velocity, escalating issues to senior leadership when required, • Provide leadership and technical direction to the team

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Quick learner of new technologies and a self-starter
• Experience with Golang or Python programming languages
• Familiar with Linux and shell scripting • Strong analytical, problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams, with excellent oral and written communication
• Strong leadership skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with containerized application development/deployment technologies and environments (Docker, Kubernetes Operators, OpenShift)
• Experience with cloud environments, (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure and/or GCP)
• Experience with Db2 databases • Experience with agile software development
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methodologies, DevOps
• Experience with test-driven development or secure software engineering best practices
