Network Infrastructure

The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia's Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.

The team you will be a part of

We are a lean team of developers with dreams of success and must grow to achieve them, as such, we are searching for an technically savy individual that can help contribute to the effort of a small group of software developers. Our objective is to prepare our application, the Virtual Service Directory (VSD), a product from Nuage by Nokia, for the next phase in terms of improved scaling, performance, and introduce new feature sets.

• Worked with containers / microservices
• Designed and developed software for an Element Management System (EMS) or a Network Management System (NMS).
• Bash or equivalent Linux scripting.
• Experience with Python.
• Understanding of Design For Security (DFSec) concepts.
• Exposure to Networking (IP, routing, packets).
• Familiarity with development tools like Eclipse or IntelliJ and building tools like Maven.
• Used JVM memory leak detection tools like YourKit and EclipseMAT.
• Experience with using Static Code Analysis or Code Coverage tools (SpotBugs, PMD, Coverity, Sonar).
• Previously worked in an Agile environment.

What you will learn and contribute to

As part of the team, you will:

• Analyse, design, program, debug, and modify software by proposing enhancements to existing components and developing new functionalities.
• Design and develop high-performing and scalable application software in a Java server environment.
• Act as a mentor to junior colleagues in the team.
• Communicate ideas and share knowledge with others in the team and outside.
• Present completed work and proposals for the future to a group of peers.
• Defend design proposals.

Your skills and experience

You have :

• At least 8 years of experience in the field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• Good Java coding skills (J2EE).
• Experience with Java application server deployments (JBoss or equivalent).
• Knows how to perform analysis of a JVM thread dump or a heap dump.
• Worked on Java Application scaling and performance-related issues.
• Knowledge of relational databases like MySQL and Hibernate for object/relational mappings.
• Used ReST for publishing data and an SQL DB to store the data.
• Wrote applications to be deployed on Linux servers.
• Understanding of Certificate management.
• Exposure to messaging queue technologies like ActiveMQ or Kafka

It would be nice if you also had:

• Worked with containers / microservices
