Davidson is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer in Huntsville, AL.

The Senior Software Development Engineer participates in implementing and maintaining real-time HWIL simulation software systems used to support the NASA Space Launch System program at MSFC. The incumbent collects, interprets and documents system requirements; participates in component, subsystem and system concept designs; develops and recommends methods, tools and designs and participates as a member of a multi-functional real-time HWIL simulation development team.

• Perform software systems engineering functions as required
• Analyze and develop software per customer requirements
• Implement source code per detailed designs
• Create detailed real-time SLS vehicle/subsystem models and avionics emulators to support system requirements
• Support software/hardware integration activities
• Support software/hardware integration troubleshooting and bug-fix activities
• Design and execute test plans and procedures
• Support unit and system level verification and validation activities
• Conduct and participate in design and code reviews
• Enter or update documentation into appropriate control system
• Troubleshoot and correct simulation anomalies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet performance goals

These activities will be on-going as the launch vehicle architecture matures and the SLS program completes program phases, reviews and schedule milestones.

Responsibilities:

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent (Computer Science) from an ABET-accredited university.
• Educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with minimum of 12 years' experience, a master's with at least 15 years' experience, or BS with at least 20 years' experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in developing real-time, multi-processor, multi-core, distributed simulation synchronization software.

Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:

• Experience in developing flight like bus interfaces such as MIL-STD 1553B, RS422, RS485, Compact PCI, PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), Discrete, Analog-Digital, Digital-Analog, etc. in support of launch vehicle avionics HWIL systems integration and test is desirable.
• Experience in the modeling and simulation of launch vehicle subsystems and avionics hardware in support of launch vehicle avionics HWIL systems integration and test is desirable.
• Systems engineering experience in disciplines such as hardware and software integration, requirements development, verification and validation, and testing is desirable.
• Proficient in tools/languages such as: RedHat Linux, Linux Fedora Core, MATLAB/SIMULINK, UML/SysML, C/C++, and Linux batch scripting.
