The Senior Software Engineer for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for working in a team to develop software for our latest generation of automated medical laboratory testing equipment.
This position is part of the Systems Research and Development team located in Chaska, Minnesota and will be hybrid (must be local to Chaska, MN). At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
You will be a part of the Software R&D team and report to the Manager of Software Engineering and be responsible for designing, developing, documenting, and testing the system software that drives our Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay family of products. We develop product software with primarily a C#/.NET windows-based technology stack. Some of the additional products and languages in use within the group include SQL, JSON, XML, ASP.NET, Javascript, Python, and more. We write software for robotic control, image processing, and use machine learning to optimize our system.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Design and develop software using technologies such as C# and .NET (this could include UI, business logic and/or motion control components).
- Create test plans and write unit tests and automated integration tests.
- Produce documentation required for medical device regulatory clearance such as requirements, design, and risk analysis.
- Find root cause on complex issues and bugs and develop countermeasures and fixes
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar technical field with 5+ years of experience OR Master's degree in same fields with 3+ years of experience OR Doctoral degree in same fields with 0+ years of experience
- Proficiency in one or more object-oriented language such as C#, C++, Java, or Python including common design patterns
- Demonstrated skill in writing technical documentation to support software development such as software requirement specifications, design documents, bug reports, and other technical documents
- Ability to efficiently debug and investigate issues reported by customers and submit fixes or countermeasures to support the field
- A firm command of software verification and validation principles
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Working effectively in an Agile/Scrum team to meet business objectives
- Deploying DevOps solutions, e.g. build, release and test automation tools and infrastructure
- Developing software for medical devices or similar regulated industry
- Working with geographically distributed teams
