At Leica, we engineer and manufacture Digital pathology scanners, which are a high precision and automated electro-mechanical instrument for high resolution scan of pathological samples. The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for interfacing with other engineers to develop system-level product architectures that address customer needs and expectations. They develop plans, designs, tests, and documentation in collaboration with team members and other disciplines to support multiple software products. They establish clear task definitions and prioritization based on standard work procedures and broad business needs. They participate in peer reviews and provide constructive feedback that drives product quality. They actively research and apply industry best practices for software development.
This position is part of the Engineering R&D Organization located in Vista, California and will be hybrid.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related STEM fields, or equivalent experience; Advanced Degree preferred
- Minimum of 4 years overall work experience and e xperience with full stack software product development
- Experience with programming script languages like Python, PHP, TypeScript, C/C++, C, ASP.Net, Java; W eb development technologies like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; and, database systems like MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, MongoDB
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and principles. Preferably Scrum/Kanban
- Ability to write requirements documents and design specifications
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: - Experience in medical product development environment (FDA, ISO) with exposure to design control regulations
- Experience with Verification and Validation methods for medical device development.

The salary range for this role is $125,000 - $140,000 . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
