Job Purpose

Our electricity transmission business needs a modern solution offering flexibility across jurisdictions while implementing best practices. Our colleagues who work in the field have traditionally relied on a series of manual, paper-based processes involving non-integrated systems to complete their work. You will be part of our team that is fixing that! We are building transformative digital products which enable our National Grid colleagues to optimize and be more efficient in real time from their devices!

What you'll do

• Collaborate with development teams and business units to identify, define, develop, modify, and implement reusable services and APIs for our mobile and desktop applications
• Design and build backend system integration solutions with an emphasis on scalability and operability
• Ensure the responsiveness, reliability, and performance of applications
• Perform activities ranging from software design, operating architecture integration, and technology selection
• Work in an Agile Scrum environment as we work towards a CI/CD model
• Mentor and train other team members to increase their technical capabilities

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience demonstrating responsibility for developing solutions in support of software development projects, including development of technical requirements, testing and integration plans using Agile methodologies
• Experience with node.js, postgres, docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitHub
• Experience with database optimization, schema design and query building
• Hands on experience building APIs and services
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

It's a plus if you have;

• Experience with cloud-computing services, such as AWS or Azure
• Native iOS development
• React, TypeScript and .NET
• Experience with scripting languages like python

Salary

$120,000 - $169,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
