Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer for Rockwell Automation, you will have the opportunity to design and develop industry-leading commercial software known for its innovation and usability.

A primary responsibility of this position is to design, implement, and test timely software features and solutions for our customers while playing an active role in all aspects of agile development. This position will allow you to collaborate with multiple global cross-functional teams and may also provide an opportunity to be the technical lead of an agile development team.

Essential Functions

• Participates in design and development of functionality that resides within the product
• Applies secure code design and development best practices to the product
• Leads or participates in reviews of documents, designs, code, test cases and user documentation
• Determines the origin and root cause of identified anomalies
• Takes the lead on identifying and recommending capability improvements in software development practices and development tools
• Thinks outside the box and is willing to research and explore new avenues to overcome obstacles by utilizing the latest technologies and standards
• Clearly communicates and conveys design concepts, both verbally and in writing
• Able to learn and understand complex control system concepts

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Typically requires a minimum of five years of experience in a software product development environment
• Proven application of data structures and algorithms
• Able to apply object-oriented designs using C++ or other relevant programming languages
• Basic understanding of design patterns
• Direct experience with the Industrial Automation industry
• Basic understanding of Jenkins, Artifactory, GitLab, Make and Build systems
• Basic understanding of architecting modular software
• Able to apply basic knowledge of testing highly integrated software products
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
