Position Overview

The Vectra Engineering team is a small and constantly growing team of individuals. We look for people that are smart, very capable technically, and have fun solving the challenges that our customers face together as a team. We believe strongly that everyone can and should have significant impacts on the growth of the product as well as the company and our culture. We believe in using the right technology for each problem and building knowledge through mentorship and other things like peer code reviews. The Platform team's core responsibility is bridging the gap between hardware and software, and creating effective tooling for customers, support, and engineering. This may include things like:

  • Operating System ownership (upgrades, security, raid tooling)
  • Developing new hardware and cloud platforms 
  • Containerization standardization and operations

Responsibilities:

  • Translate product requirements and concepts into software designs and implementation taking scalability, performance, operational effort and cost into consideration 
  • Interface with other groups including Product Management, UX, Security Research and Data Science to help customers simplify security 
  • Provide technical leadership in addition to mentoring and encouraging other engineers   
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain our software
  • Consider the customer in every decision we make to deliver a world-class product
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and maintainability of the product and actively identifies areas for improvement
  • Implement Python focused tooling (scripts, APIs) for both developers and product
  • Work with relational and non-relational databases to support data flow across the entire company
  • Ready to ask questions and dive headfirst into supporting and improving a complex technical stack

Requirements: 

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software design and delivery
  • 5+ years Python experience
  • 5+ years working with Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP etc.)
  • Basic understanding of containers
  • Unix/Linux proficiency
  • Knowledge of source code management tools; e.g. Git   
  • Experience with software debugging, testing, and documentation
  • Knowledge of software design principles and leading software development practices
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills
  • Willingness to get things done, take initiative and challenge existing assumptions and conventions  

Preferred: 

  • Experience working with a geographically dispersed team 
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment 
  • Expertise in automated testing in addition to continuous integration and deployment tools 
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD systems
  • Knowledge of networking and networking protocols 
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity 
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)

Education: 

  • BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Our competitive total rewards package includes cash compensation within the range provided below. Actual pay for this position may vary based on the hired candidate’s location, experience and relevant incumbent pay position.  
Vectra Total Rewards
$125,000—$170,000 USD
