Senior Software Engineer

Job Description
Position Summary

The Senior Software Engineer will partner with and mentor a team of software engineers with a focus on Offerpad's inward-facing products. The Senior Software Engineer must be passionate about technology; build and maintain applications using the latest technologies; enhance web applications with innovative features; ensure integration with back-end services and systems; build test scripts; leverage Scrum, Kanban methodologies and promote engineering best practices. It is imperative that this team member enjoy a collaborative environment, leveraging the newest web technologies that will empower our customers with a unique and engaging experience.

Essential Functions

• Build and maintain our customer facing applications which are built on the latest technologies, including Azure Cloud Services, .NET Core, React.
• Contributing to all phases of software development including ideation, prototyping, design and production
• Applying your technical expertise to guide the team in making intelligent and pragmatic design decisions; Influencing the technology and architectural roadmap of the engineering teams
• Enhance the web experience provided to our customers through innovative features and integration with our back-end web services, RESTful APIs and other technologies.
• Contribute to our suite of automated test scripts
• Work closely with product teams to implement new features.
• Work on an agile development team leveraging either Scrum or Kanban methodologies along with XP (Extreme Programming) best practices such as TDD, Refactoring, and Pairing.
• Promote engineering best practices (e.g. pairing, refactoring, TDD/BDD) along with building out a robust CI/CD pipeline and robust, fault tolerant, and performant software architecture.

Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field/training, plus 3 to 5 years of Professional experience using the following technologies:
• Experience with at least one modern public cloud platform (AWS and/or Azure), includes IaaS and PaaS, and serverless solutions
• Knowledge of SaaS and its benefits
• SQL Server (or another RDBMS)
• Building RESTful APIs that are scalable, secure, and performant
• .NET and/or Java experience
• React, CSS, HTML5, Typescript, ES6
• Test frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Enzyme)
• Azure DevOps (VSTS), Git
• Or 6 to 10 years of related experience with the above listed technologies.
• High EQ (emotional intelligence) and able to effectively work well with others, fostering a great, collaborative, and fun environment, even amidst technical challenges.
• Passion for building elegant customer experiences via modern technology tools.
• Experience in a senior technical role serving as a mentor to other developers.
• Have worked on Agile teams and interested in collaborating closely with the business.
• Develop world-class software in an enterprise/high availability environment
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change, with a high initiative and strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a brisk, but long-term sustainable pace, good verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, high customer orientation, and high EQ (emotional intelligence).
• Comfortable working with distributed teams and believe technologists should have a flexible work arrangement that allows them to do their best work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Azure and other Microsoft Cloud services
• Machine Learning experience a plus
• Real Estate knowledge a plus
