Senior Software Engineer

You will work closely with the larger engineering team to design, develop, deploy, and operate the high-performance, high-availability media platform that our customers rely on. You will also have the opportunity to operationalize AI technologies and create custom AI models for our clients including some of the largest sites on the internet.

What you’ll be doing:

• Take customer problems, design elegant solutions, break those solutions down into technical deliverables and deliver value to our customers.

• Write clean and well-tested code, with an eye for maintainability and performance.

• Evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance and time.

• Contribute thoughtfully to architecture and design decisions for scalable, highly available systems.

• Communicate and collaborate to work effectively in a team.

• Mentor junior and mid-level developers.

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of experience in C or C++.

• 2+ years of experience with Python, Java, Go, C#, or similar.

• Ability to design, develop, administer, and maintain reliable, scalable services that work with massive amounts of visual media on the cloud, across geographic regions.

• Experience with research and experimentation to build proof of concepts that solve business problems, scale them into functional MVPs and bring innovative concepts to life.

• Proven ability to lead projects from specification to delivery while collaborating with other engineers and cross-functional team members.

• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment that focuses on shipping value to our customers.

• Bonus qualifications:

  • Experience writing and debugging GPU shaders.

  • Experience with CUDA or compute in Vulkan/OpenGL.

  • Familiarity with image recognition or computer vision or OpenCV.

  • Experience with creating scalable HTTP APIs.

  • Familiarity with AI model training and usage.

The targeted base pay range for this position is $140,000 to $200,000. Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position calculated by role, level, and location. Your pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.

Imgix currently operates as a mostly remote workplace with employees distributed around the world. In this role, you will join a 100% remote team, while still having the option of being based in our San Francisco office.
