Senior Software Engineer - 5852

The Sr. Software Engineer - Informatics position will contribute significantly to requirements analysis, design, documentation and implementation of the Clinical Trial and Research Management System and related biomedical research and informatics software applications. The position is for a hands-on .Net engineer with skills in software development, engineering, and data analysis who will contribute to the implementation or research informatics platforms. This person will translate informatics requirements into a technical implementation plan, using skills such as OOD, analysis of existing infrastructure, and research to select appropriate tool and technologies. The Sr. Software Engineer will actively contribute to management, coordination, documentation, evaluation, training, communication, reporting, and representation of Einstein/Montefiore's programs and will significantly participate in supporting existing software applications (primarily in .Net).

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into a technical implementation and software engineering plan, using skills such as OOD, analysis of existing infrastructure, and research to select appropriate tool and technologies.
• Participate in engineering software modules using a variety of technologies: .Net, C#, ASPX, SQL, PL/SQL, REST/SOAP web services, JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, XLT and JavaScript etc.
• Design database schemas; write SQL queries and PL/SQL procedures and packages in database systems such as Oracle, Sql server, etc.
• Partner with subject matter experts (SME's), managers, and technical leads to translate business requirements to technical specifications, software engineering design, and user stories for implementation.
• Analyze, design, engineer, debug, and modify software with strict adherence to the software development lifecycle.
• Deploy and manage software application on varieties of application servers.
• Document and demonstrate solutions by developing technical documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
• Participate in all aspects of governance and compliance in the use of the systems, QA reporting to ensure institutional policies and procedures are adhered to and data integrity is maintained.
• Oversee and participate in training users and certification process for users, trouble shooting, and continued support and services for the user community.
• Collaborate with team lead, managers, and supervisors in planning, designing, and implementing analytic reporting and all research informatics applications.
• Provide effort estimates for tasks and track progress of assigned tasks and if required, all project tasks.
• Build automated tests to ensure quality of the software modules and minimize issues and bugs.
• Address production issues and implement fixes to address them and work to prevent them in the future.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical (internal) stakeholders.
• Perform unit integration testing, load-testing and performance testing when necessary to ensure stability and scalability of our websites.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience.
• 5 + years of experience developing backend and web application .Net or Java (C#)
• 5+ years of experience writing SQL queries and PL/SQL stored procedures. Experience optimizing SQL queries ad writing PL/SQL packages
• 5+ years of experience with designing and optimizing Databases schemes in SQL server or Oracle
• 5+ years of experience participating in all software development lifecycle phases
• 2+ years of experience developing and integrating REST or SOAP web services
• Experienced in developing graphical user interfaces using ASPX and modern JavaScript frameworks
• Experience in analytics and data mining techniques
• Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Strong analytical skills to analyze, a categorize and translate business/user requirements to functional requirements
• Excellent interpersonal and writing skills to communicate and document user interaction, requirements, design specifications, reports and scope and work.
• Strong presentation skills for user training and demonstrations
