Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary:  

This individual will be developing mobile game features and components for a one of the largest social casino games in the world. This individual will be primarily tasked with creating the server backend implementations our live players interact with, which are critical and need to be performant and scalable. Strong analytical skills are required, as the implementations will need to consider our server infrastructure, software architecture, data design, and rollout strategies.

Essential Job Functions: 

• Develop high-quality software design and architecture
• Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
• Develop tools and applications while producing clean, readable, and efficient code
• Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
• Review and debug code
• Validate your implementations are correct via author testing, automated testing, and simulations
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
• Monitor server systems using tools provided and tools created
• Ensure software does not become obsolete or unsupported

Education:  

· Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Statistics or relevant area or equivalent experience 

Required Experience:  

· 5+ years of software experience

· 2+ years of experience developing software for a live client / server product

· Familiarity with Git, SVN or other version control software 

Preferred Experience:  

· Game development highly preferred

· Regulated industries

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

• Proven experience as a Senior-level Software Engineer
• Extensive experience in software development, scripting and project management
• Experience using system monitoring tools (e.g. Sentry, New Relic)
• Experience with multiple forms of automated testing (e.g. unit, integration, endpoint)
• Able to utilize the following programming languages day-to-day: PHP and JavaScript
• In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB, Couchbase)
• Familiarity with various operating systems (Linux, Mac OS, Windows)
• Able to utilize unix-based command line interfaces (SSH, filesystem operations, searching)
• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
• Ability to work independently and with teammates
• Excellent organizational skills
