Job Description:

Cox Automotive is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Java and Cloud technologies, preferably AWS, with proven experience in using Cloud Services. In this role, the Senior Software Engineer will help design and build integrations between systems using standard and proven frameworks and pattern. The Senior Software Engineer also plays a role in Agile planning, providing advice and guidance, and monitoring emerging trends.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Planning

• Works with Product Management to understand the challenges that customers and end users face in their day-to-day work and partner with them to design viable solutions.
• Recommends viable solutions to processes, technology, and interfaces that improve the effectiveness of the team and reduce technical debt.
• Foresees capacity requirements for component usage and identifies limitations.
• Provides input into story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning.

Product Development

• Contributes to product and solution designs to address critical issues and complex problems.
• Builds software applications across multiple platforms in response to the needs of stakeholders.
• Understands technical architecture and writes software and automated tests that are aligned with agreed upon standards.
• Performs trouble-shooting efforts and investigations when necessary.

Application Support

• Provides ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products.

Advice and Guidance

• Actively works with less experienced software engineers providing technical guidance and oversight.

Emerging Technology Monitoring

• Actively participates in the engineering community, staying up to date on new software technologies and best practices and shares insights with others in the organization.

The ideal candidate:

• Provides expert advice on Integrating systems and existing usable patterns.
• Works with businesses to understand the management of the system and system data to integrate most effectively.
• Identifies workflows and system characteristics to be performance tested and monitored.
• Writes, debugs and executes unit tests before releasing code.
• Analyzes test results to identify issues and works with architects and others to suggest improvements and drive issues to resolution.
• Works with team to ensure system Integration is tested thoroughly.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years' experience in a related field
• Working experience with AWS Services and tools, have an ability to choose the right service for the use case to balance performance and cost.
• Working experience in using and writing Rest APIs
• Interest and proven ability to work the new technology/service and use in the solutions.
• Drive to think and create new patterns and use of services/tools to improve the processes.
• Working experience with multiple System Integrations scenarios and Integration platforms and tools.
• Working experience with Real-Time and Batch Integrations
• Working experience using Queues, Streams, Serverless Compute, preferably in AWS Ecosystem: Lambda, ECS, SNS/SQS, Batch, Step Functions, Event Bridge, API Gateway
• Working experience using Rational and NoSQL Databases.
• Working experience with performance and monitoring tools (e.g. Load Runner, Web Page Test, Jmeter
• Working experience in software performance engineering in a large-scale environment
• Working experience in identifying system bottlenecks, architectural risks, and issues
• Working experience with source code control systems
• Knowledge of Unit and Integration testing.
