Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead, design, and implement functional software products and systems. You will work with upper management to define requirements and take the lead on operational and technical projects. In this role you should be able to work independently with little supervision, engage in frequent technical discussions with fellow engineers, and lead projects to completion. You should have excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. Your goal will be to develop high quality software in a collaborative manner that is aligned with user needs and business goals.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of designing and developing high quality software in a team setting
• Participate in code reviews and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback
• Lead projects from start to finish
• Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow engineers
• Advise upper management on technical scope and feasibility of relevant projects
• Identify, prioritize, and execute on tasks in the software development life cycle
• Use data to drive and understand decisions
• Automate tasks through appropriate tools
• Write automated unit and end to end tests
• Monitor software systems to ensure high performance and availability
• Write documentation for new software tools, patterns, and systems
• Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologies

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer
• Extensive experience in software development and project management
• Proven track record of leading software projects to completion
• Experience using system monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic) and automated testing frameworks
• In depth knowledge of selected Javascript and/or Ruby on Rails
• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
