Miku creates products that make it easy for parents to monitor and understand their child's health and wellness. We built Miku knowing firsthand the many challenges of being a new parent. The overwhelming feeling of new responsibilities, new to-do's, and not always knowing. Our contactless monitor provides real-time monitoring - including audio/video, respiration tracking - as well as advanced insights into sleep patterns and pediatric wellness.
We're seeking an experienced software engineer to join our cloud team in developing new features and scale infrastructure to support our rapidly growing customer base. The ideal candidate will be excited to contribute to building a secure, reliable, always-on system that provides the best experience for our customers. The Backend Engineer will own major backend systems and closely collaborate with our firmware, mobile and product teams. Responsibilities will include software development and a moderate amount of devOps.
Responsibilities

• Own cloud-based systems
• Implement, test, deploy and monitor production systems at scale on AWS
• Collaborate with tech leads to plan, communicate and launch end-to-end systems
• Work closely with other developers around interfaces and performance while optimizing processes and practices to keep quality and stability at the highest levels possible.
• Recommend architectural improvements and design alternatives for greater scalability, improved performance, availability and reliability of existing and new products.
• Track down and resolve issues reported by customers and engineering teams
• Demonstrate up-to-date expertise in software engineering and security and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of product and processes
• Contribute to a friendly and talented work environment, developing a product that improves the lives of parents and children.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience
• Strong knowledge of backend interfaces (REST APIs, WebSockets, etc)
• Working knowledge of modern cloud-managed services and relational databases
• Experience developing multi-region, high traffic, fault tolerant, & highly available systems
• Solid understanding of operational security and privacy considerations & best practices
• Ability to ask the right questions to guide product features into robust technical solutions
• Ability to design, implement and own new software systems using AWS technologies
• Strong belief in the importance of metrics, monitoring, and logging of production systems

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing a global production environment at scale
• Proficient in AWS services - EC2, S3, IoT, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, RDS, ALB, Aurora, DynamoDB, CloudFront, CloudWatch, ElastiCache/Redis etc.
• Proficiency with Python, Javascript, and/or C++
• Proficiency with Linux
• Experience with database design and performance tuning
• Experience with video streaming and related technologies, like WebRTC
• Experience working with embedded, machine learning & mobile engineering teams
