Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Discovery)

Poshmark is looking for a backend/full stack engineer to lead fast-paced development on discovery tools and features. You will be a crucial member of the Cloud Platform team, working directly with dedicated product managers to build and iterate on a wide range of features centered around helping buyers find listings that are relevant to them and exploring new styles and trends.

Responsibilities 

• Lead the development of scalable product features on the Poshmark platform around trends, activity feed, recommendations, and more
• Work cross-functionally with other engineering teams, product managers, data analysts, data scientists and data engineers to drive projects from conception to release
• Develop merchandising tools and processes that our internal teams use to create and manage trends, parties, feed, shop, etc.
• Mentor others and assume the role as team lead

6-Month Accomplishments 

• Become familiar with Poshmark’s code and infrastructure 
• Work with product managers to technically vet new features that they have proposed for feasibility and scoping
• Help us revamp the shop tab, turning it into fashion magazine-like place to begin your shopping journey and explore new trends

12+ Month Accomplishments

• Establish yourself as technical lead for the discovery team
• Work with product managers to identify buyer needs and brainstorm ideas to meet them
• Help us revamp the feed tab by surfacing listings and closets that are most relevant to a particular buyer and highlighting the vibrancy of the Poshmark community

Desired Skills

• 3+ years of hands-on experience building products in a high scale environment
• Familiarity with technologies such as Ruby, AWS, Elasticsearch and other similar technologies a plus
• Experience in working cross-functionally with other teams and strong communication skills
• Experience designing and implementing APIs
• Experience mentoring other engineers
