We're looking for a highly motivated candidate to be a Senior Engineer within the Enablement Products team in the Connected Aviation Solutions group. As a Senior Engineer, you will work on a team that develops state-of-the-art communications systems and implements embedded software on a number of our Airborne network platforms that help to support multiple ways (Gatelink Cellular, SATCOM and IPSec VPN) of connecting the aircraft to the ground and the business and regional avionics customers in their pursuit of optimizing operational efficiency, improving safety, and reducing operational and maintenance costs.
As a member of our team, you will be involved in the design, development, verification, and integration of our connectivity solution. Our embedded software is written in C++ and our automated test environment is written in Python. This role is located Onsite/Hybrid in Cedar Rapids, IA with relocation available.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

Job Responsibilities:
- Design, demonstrate, develop, and maintain embedded software in C++ and python on Linux OS for our connectivity solutions products
- Lead design reviews and software bid efforts for product lines within the department.
- Demonstrates technical expertise in processing platforms and the associated technologies
- Provide leadership as an agile team member with remote and global teams.
- Actively participate in Peer reviews, Agile sprint reviews, User stories refinement and demos
- Coach other team members and drive them to become experts in their area of software development
- Identifies and advocate improvement to processes, tools, and technical solutions which affect the team and/or product.
- Effective communication with internal teams, customers, and leadership
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
- Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- One year of Software & system engineering experience in Linux OS environment
- One year or experience coding in C++ and Python
Preferred Qualifications:
- Continuous Integration experience, with Jenkins
- In addition to these technical skills, the candidate must be highly motivated and a self-starter
- The candidate must possess excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation), enjoy working with a wide variety of people and be capable of prioritizing multiple tasks
- Continuous Integration experience, with Jenkins
- Atlassian Suite knowledge (JIRA in particular)
- Experience with DO-178B/C
- Experience in test driven development (TDD)
- Coaching and mentoring junior engineers
