Senior Software Engineer - Client, Ingress

Niantic’s Ingress Team is seeking an ambitious Senior Software Engineer to help build and extend our Unity client in our live game.

In this role you’ll work on all aspects of the Ingress client, from gameplay logic to server communication; from 3D and 2D graphics to Real World AR using the Lightship platform. Building performant, polished features with security, stability and scalability in mind is a must.

This person has a love for games and the ability to collaborate with other engineers, artists, technical artists, and game designers in order to build fun games at scale. We seek engineers with strong decision-making skills, great execution, a sense of pride in their craft and a willingness to learn.

• Design, build, and release features for the Ingress game client using Unity and Niantic's Lightship Platform.
• Debug and extend existing game systems that already operate at scale.
• Work with a small team of engineers, designers, artists, and producers to deliver on a creative vision.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design reviews, and gameplay design brainstorms.
• Create new polished 2D and 3D graphics for the game client, contribute to new AR features in Ingress using Lightship ARDK.
• Always be thinking about our Ingress players and how to make their lives better.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders to cultivate strong working relationships with project team members, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.

• BS in Computer Science or other technical major, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ of proven experience in video games.
• Experience with Unity, iOS and Android.
• Fluent in C#.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
• Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous interactions with others.

• You have experience with Niantic Lightship ARDK.

The total compensation package for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $162,000 - $210,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
Individual pay within this salary range is determined by work location and additional factors, including assessed job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
