At Adyen, we treat data and data artifacts as first-class citizens. They form our backbone and drive the business and product insights we generate. To this end, Adyen is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our development team in Chicago. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will enable our billing, reporting and actionable insights teams to keep scaling as the business growths. You will be bridging the gap between our traditional Java Applications and our Big Data Platform and ensure data flows reliably between our systems and integrates with those of our customers.

• Be fully responsible for projects, from initial design to bringing the new functionality live
• Build data products and tooling according to quality principles such as performance, code quality, data validation, data governance, and discoverability
• Develop linters and other tooling bespoke to Adyen to help ensure a high-quality pipeline codebase
• Work with a wide-range of specialists (product managers, data engineers, data scientists, etc.) to solve challenging problems
• Help grow our Adyen team in Chicago

• You have experience with Core Java, web services, REST APIs, and Distributed Databases (Hadoop, Druid, Cassandra, etc.)
• You make good choices, such as when to use and when not to use big data technologies
• You have a good understanding of Software Engineering practices and Data Engineering principles
• You are experienced in at least one of the following languages: Python, Java, or Scala
• You are able to communicate complex outcomes with clarity over a wide range of audiences
• You have experience building data pipelines that expose data to clients at scale and with strict security requirements
• You have an experimental mindset with a "launch fast and iterate" mentality

• 5+ years of experience in the software or data engineering industry in a fast paced tech environment
• At least 1 year of working with data at scale
