Let's talk about the role

• Manage the flow of data from our OLTP database (MongoDB) to our OLAP database (Redshift).
• Work closely with Data Engineering and Product Management to design and implement solutions to leverage data within our product.
• Develop against a live production backend system that supports both mobile/web applications, integration partners, and a growing user base of over 100,000.
• Participate in problem discovery and technical feasibility to assess and solve complex technical problems.
• Deliver software in consistent fortnightly release cycles while maintaining stringent quality standards and compliance of our software as a medical device.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to other engineers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and other Platform Engineers to prioritize and maintain technical backlogs in Jira.
• Work with Software Engineers in Test to develop actionable testing plans for new and existing features.
• Write and maintain a suite of unit and integration tests that are run utilizing Github Actions.
• Actively contribute to documentation detailing technical and procedural aspects of the system.
• Evaluate and work with external partners/vendors to implement third-party tools.
• Participate in a rotating release and on-call schedule to ensure the health of our system.

Our Tech:

We use Node.js to power our API, MongoDB as our OLTP database, Redshift as our OLAP database, and AWS SNS/SQS and Kinesis to bridge the gap. We also use a variety of other AWS products including S3, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDb, and Elasticache. Our system is built with Docker and deployed via ECS. We're committed to unit testing, peer review, quality processes, and rapid cycle deployment.

Let's talk about you

• 6+ years of real-world programming experience writing readable, maintainable, and testable code.
• Experience building platform solutions for a live production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and support a REST API and database.
• Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.
• Experience working on AWS Data Pipeline and CI/CD processes.
• Experience in automated testing.
