Senior Software Engineer, Developer Experience (API)

In other words, Highnote connects merchants and businesses to the most advanced virtual payments platform - the industry’s first built-for-purpose unified solution for virtual card issuing - extensible through developer friendly open APIs capable of handling the most complex payment processing business flows. Our mission is to help merchants and businesses grow by accelerating their digital transformation with innovative virtual payments products.

Since launching the company in October 2020, Highnote has raised over $90m in funding from Oak HC/FT, Costanoa Ventures, and XYZ Ventures (among others) to help accelerate their time to market and growth. Also invested in Highnote is Bill Ready (current President of Commerce at Google, and former COO of Paypal, and CEO of Braintree and Venmo) and Renaud Laplanche (Co-Founder & CEO of Upgrade, and former Co-Founder & CEO of Lending Club.)

Highnote is headquartered in San Francisco and currently has remote team members in Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and New York City. The team is currently 95+ people and growing!

We are looking for a senior engineer to join our Developer Experience team. In this role, you will help design, maintain, and scale our GraphQL API and developer tools. Additionally, the Developer Experience team also owns our web properties, developer documentation, and JavaScript SDKs so you can work across the stack at any time!

The Highnote GraphQL API powers all of our experiences internally and externally. We work closely with product and design teams to craft the experiences of our platform using our API. We also collaborate with our backend platform engineers to help design new API features and enable them to contribute.

You:

• Know JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js ecosystems and tooling
• Have worked on production scale Node.js services
• Know and love GraphQL
• Have experience with monitoring and observability
• Believe in owning the entire application lifecycle – design, development, and deployment
• Are a full contributor – you not only want to build but want to have a say in how things are built
• Are customer-centric – whether the experience is for developers or non-technical users, their experience drives you
• Have experience with AWS/Google Cloud/Cloudflare/Serverless or other clouds
• You see the future powered by a “connected” ecosystem of integrations and have ideas on how you want to be part of that

• Have published/maintained JS libraries
• Know how to build frontends
• Have built serverless applications (Lambda, Cloudflare Workers, Google Cloud Functions)
• Know how iframes work
• Are interested in rust and/or wasm
• Have worked with grpc services
