You have worked in a product development or similar role and love helping other engineers bring out their best selves. Your passion is creating and improving systems to make software engineering easier.
In this role, you can expect to apply your experience in engineering to engineering itself. We're looking for someone who is excited to create systems that are both for and by engineers. Our ideal candidate has experience building systems, and is ready to create and socialize new standards for efficient engineering with our teams.

The base salary range below is for the role in the specified location, based on a Full Time Schedule.
Total compensation package will include base salary + bonus/commission + equity + benefits (health, dental, life, 401k, and paid time off). Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and that the actual total compensation offer will be determined based on various factors, including, but not limited to, applicant's qualifications, skills, experiences, and location.
The base salary range below is for the role in California, based on a Full Time Schedule.
$164,000 - $214,000 USD

The work you'll do:
- Leveraging Telepresence to enable local development on remote Kubernetes clusters
- Containerizing commonly used services and data storage solutions for local use
- Develop and deploy processes to roll out new tools and guides across 400+ engineers
- Some cajoling needed
- Support other teams in adopting them
- Setting standards for development best practices by developing guides, linters, and autoformatters for Java and TypeScript
- Standardizing CI/CD via GitHub Actions
- Write extensive documentation of how to use the tools you build
- Listening to fellow engineers to learn what pains them daily, and taking initiative to improve it
- Set an example for and mentor and grow your colleagues
- Write clean, understandable, and testable code
- Help define a fun and inclusive engineering culture
- Provide feedback on the designs and code of peers
The qualifications you'll typically need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of product development experience
- Experience designing software systems
- Experience leading cross-team engineering projects
- Experience working closely with product and and other stakeholders
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Passion and motivation to learn and grow as a software engineer
- Preferred experience working with any of:
- An object-oriented server language; Java preferred
- A language used for web frontends; TypeScript or JavaScript preferred
- A web framework; Angular preferred
- Common build tools; Make & Maven preferred
- *NIX systems and shell scripting
- Containerization tooling, such as: Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize, Docker, and ArgoCD
- CI/CD systems; GitHub Actions preferred
- Networking and distributed systems
