Senior Software Engineer - DevOps

Your Role and Responsibilities
You will be part of a newly established highly motivated and skilled team working on a new IBM product focusing on Data Integration capabilities. As a DevOps engineer you will drive adoption of DevOps tools and practices actively contributing to daily team activities (scrum/stand-up meetings progres checkpoints demo sessions) and cooperating with different teams and team members across worldwide development organisation.

Key responsibilities of this role may include but are not limited to:
• Serving as a technical team member in the development team customer engagements and contributing your knowledge and expertise towards the project’s success.
• Implementing containerized workflows using technologies such as Kubenetes Docker Jenkins Travis CI Ansible and other open-source solutions.
• Diagnosing environmental issues and introduce/implement technologies to solve them.
• Staying up-to-date on the latest container platform releases and containerization techniques.

Applicants should have prior experience with or be able to master the tools and techniques for building deploying operating and supporting large scale hybrid cloud platforms services and applications based on Kubernetes and DevOps practices.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
at least 3 years of professional experience with development and/or automation
proven experience in large software development projects
experience working with developing and managing CI/CD pipelines with such technologies as Jenkins Travis Git
experience using & building containers and containerized applications using Docker Kubernetes Openshift
experience in one or more of the following: Python / Shell Scripting
experience working with infrastructure as code like Ansible
Linux administration skills preferably in Debian and RHEL
strong problem solving/troubleshooting abilities
excellent communication and presentation skills
proficiency in English

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
master degree in computer science or similar
experience with distributed application concepts and highly scalable platforms is a plus
experience with cloud services from AWS Azure and Google
understanding of Agile/scrum
ability to work in complex development environment with development teams spread across the world
familiarity with Python package management systems like conda mamba is a plus
familiarity with methodologies for improving quality standards and automation
