Senior Software Engineer (External API)

About the Role
Join Mastery and our dynamic teams in tackling complex problems in the transportation industry. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with a small team to design, develop, and maintain our external API integration layer, a critical component of our client-facing services within the MasterMind platform.
Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable APIs for seamless integration with external systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define API specifications.
• Architect efficient solutions for data exchange and interoperability, prioritizing performance and security.
• Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of API functionality, addressing issues and ensuring high reliability and availability.
• Drive innovation and process improvements to streamline API integration workflows.
• Prioritize feature development and roadmap planning in collaboration with product managers.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to improve API design practices.
• Collaborate with external partners to facilitate smooth API integration efforts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, including web application deployment and maintenance.
• Proficiency in RESTful APIs, SaaS application development, and modern programming languages (Node.js, TypeScript preferred).
• Experience with Kafka or similar frameworks, GraphQL a plus.
• Familiarity with SQL, RDBMS, and cloud infrastructure (Azure, Kubernetes, AWS, etc.).
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills, empathy, and compassion.
• Experience in the logistics industry is advantageous.

Our customers - large transportation companies and shippers who need those companies - have struggled with systems that are outdated or inadequate.
