Senior Software Engineer (front end)

Wowza Media Systems is currently seeking a senior level software engineer to work across development teams to evaluate, design, implement and manage Wowza's web application frontend stack in alignment with the established architectural direction for our products.
In addition to implementing additional Wowza Video UI functionality, this position will also play a critical role in driving forward looking innovation, coordinating approaches to development in the frontend, and simplifying cross team development of shared components.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and critical thinking skills and have substantial experience working with front end methodologies, ReactJS, state management, library distribution (NPM), build systems (Webpack), and related technologies.
The ideal candidate is an experienced software developer with excellent communication skills and lives in the U.S. and is eligible to work in the U.S.
What You'll Doing:

• Partnering with the UX Designer to establish process of handoff and a shared UI/UX vision.

• Establishing and directing Wowza's architecture and approach to front end development, and working to implement that approach across the engineering organization.
• Own the shared UI framework, and design and implement new shared components
• Evaluate feature scope, complexity and development constraints
• Ensure that features are completed according to product specifications, functional and non-functional requirements and designs
• Communicate across product teams and corporate stakeholders regarding project status, justifications for variances and technical information (architecture, design and implementation objectives)

• Coordinate with senior development team and leadership to ensure ongoing alignment with corporate strategy and vision; will include working with remote teammates via video conference
• Estimating level of effort for new features and fixes
• Investigating potential defects reported both internally and by customers
• Reviewing code changes implemented by other developers
• Attending daily stand-up meetings and providing input on user stories

To be successful, you must have the ability to drive a project from start to completion, be very detail-oriented, be a self-starter, and have excellent communication skills. The ability to work well cross-functionally and with remote personnel is also required.
About You:

• 5-7 years of professional experience in software design with JavaScript; preferably with Node, NPM, ReactJS, and Webpack

• Solid experience in building and packaging both applications and shared libraries, including libraries that distribute ReactJS components in an efficient manner
• Extensive practical knowledge with with one or more of the following technologies: ReactJs, Redux, Docker, npm, yarn, webpack (or similar)
• Experience with and integrating REST APIs
• The ability to work well with HTML and CSS in producing working components from mocks is a plus.
• Solid understanding full stack web application technologies

• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly concisely both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to collaboratively work through technical issues in a professional manner, making design considerations and trade-offs as needed.
• Must be a self-starter who can successfully work independently as a part of a geographically and time zone distributed team
• Must be able to shift contexts between various teams and projects to design, coordinate, and execute a cross-organization approach and reliably meet deadlines
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced AGILE environment. Scrum/Agile or Kanban development methodology a plus
