Senior Software Engineer, Frontend - Open Exchange

Since Opendoor first started operating in 2014, we’ve learned a lot about buying, managing, and selling real estate. Open Exchange aims to share our learnings by offering our technology and processes to institutional single-family-home investment partners. Our team is building a modern platform for transactions, offering a wide range of services such as brokerage and title.

What you should expect as a frontend software engineer working on our Open Exchange team — maximum agency, tight feedback loops with customers, and no shortage of product challenges that directly translate to business value! You will have the opportunity to design, build and ship complex workflow management systems and tools that enable the Enterprise operations team to execute at a scale that would otherwise not be possible.  Our products are built with Python, Typescript, and React.

• Contributing to all phases of product development including ideation, prototyping, and implementation
• Building frontend products and tools from scratch, as well as evolving existing products
• Designing the next iteration of our Frontend architecture to scale across multiple engineering teams.
• Applying your technical expertise to guide the team in making intelligent and pragmatic design decisions
• Partnering with product managers, designers, and operators to identify and solve customer pain points
• Hiring and mentoring other engineers on the Enterprise team and across Opendoor

• A track record of approximately 7+ years building and delivering production quality web frontend products.
• Excellent communication skills — clear written and oral communication is important to our ability to operate as a remote team
• Demonstrated frontend engineering fundamentals — we don’t require knowledge of specific languages or technologies; instead we value transferable experience writing code, system design and scaling existing products.
• A strong sense of ownership and customer empathy — we work very closely with our internal and external customers, and maintaining positive working relationships with them is paramount to the success of our business

Remote roles in the US are available in all states EXCEPT Hawaii, Alaska, Montana, or any US Territories. 

The base salary range for this position in Colorado, Connecticut, Washington, and New Jersey is $164,000 - $253,000yr, and in California and New York City is $164,000 - $253,000yr. Base salary may vary depending on relevant experience, skills, geographic location, and business needs. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, 12 paid holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, basic life insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
