Senior Software Engineer in Test (Firmware)

About The Role:

At Level, a Senior Software Engineer in Test is responsible for creating and executing manual and automated tests, while working alongside the product feature team to help develop and maintain high-quality product releases. This role in particular will be supporting our Firmware Engineering team. As the subject matter expert in this area, you will have the opportunity to provide technical leadership and mentorship to other members of the Quality Engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Create and design high-level test plans at the product level 
• Designs, executes, and directs team in test strategies
• Trains other engineers and provides technical leadership to the team 
• Conducts test cases, code reviews, and runs bug triage meetings
• Create test code, harnesses, and test cases from a user story and epic at the product level
• Create test plans covering security and performance requirements 
• Create easily reproducible defect reports 
• Adhere to established QA process and bug prioritization criteria 
• Actively participate in feature definition and design 
• Stay knowledgeable on the competitors in our space and leverage this to help make business decisions

Requirements

• Experience in designing and executing tests and test code at the product level 
• Can program in at least one language (C#, Python, Java, or similar)
• Experience supporting firmware engineering teams
• Experience mentoring team members and providing technical leadership and oversight.
• Experience advocating for QA and development teams, understanding product trade-offs, seeing issues through to resolution
• Capacity to understand and write queries against a database or logging systems 
• Strong understanding of software testing life cycle 
• Experience working in a startup-like environment with smaller teams and a high bar for quality of work product
• Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
