About the Team
This is a newly formed team, so incoming members will be responsible for building the foundation of how we scale internally at Klaviyo! You will have an opportunity to make a major impact on the direction and priorities of the team.
With Klaviyo’s explosive growth, we are looking for a software engineer to help scale the way Klaviyo operates. For this, Klaviyo needs to build robust automation to help enable teams to get their jobs done more efficiently.  Klaviyo operates a real-time data platform built for massive scale on Amazon Web Services (AWS).Â
About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer on the K-Ops X team will drive engineering innovation across Klaviyo. Through internal tooling, automation, data connections, and a keen eye for optimization this role will empower other Klaviyos. This is a newer team to Klaviyo, where you’ll be the second member, and the Senior member of the team. This is a role with significant stakeholder interaction, which requires a bunch thinking on your feet and knowing when to stop and put a plan together.
Engineers come to Klaviyo with experience in a variety of languages and from a number of disciplines. Our development community is incredibly diverse, so an effective member of this team needs to be comfortable working with any modern programming language across various platforms and environments.
Technologies we use (not exhaustive):
- Python, Django, React, RabbitMQ, Celery, MySQL, Cassandra, Redis
- Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, Aurora, etc.)Terraform, Grafana, and other modern DevOps tools
What You’ll Need:
- 5-7+ years of experience in a software engineering discipline
- Proven experience with being a coach and a mentor for team members and helping them grow
- Strong backend and database experience
- Familiarity with front end code
- Significant experience with full stack application development
- Experience working with both monolithic and microservices architectures
- Experience with creating and refactoring databases that can withstand high query volumes
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience debugging performance issues and improving application performance
- Exposure to large-scale system design
Nice to Have:
- Experience creating new applications with scalability in mind
- Exposure to large-scale system design
- Internal tooling experience
- Strong front-end skills
- Experience with AWS
