Senior Software Engineer - Safety XP

• Develop highly visible, user-facing products to help protect Discord's users. Develop production APIs to launch new features

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, policy, analysts, and other stakeholders.

• Iterate on in-house tooling to supercharge our T&S workflows

• Respond quickly and decisively to the constantly evolving landscape of abuse on Discord.

• 5+ years experience writing Python and utilizing back-end API frameworks (Flask, Django).

• 5+ years experience creating front-end interfaces in JavaScript (React, TypeScript).

• Familiarity with databases such as Cassandra, Postgres, and ScyllaDB.

• Experience using metrics to make data-driven decisions and create reports and dashboards.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, debug, and test complex systems in a live, production environment.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with cross-functional partners, designers, and other engineers

• Experience working in the Safety and Anti-Abuse domain.

• Experience building products for iOS and Android clients.

• Ability to contribute to offline analytics jobs and processes.

• Knowledge of real-time streaming data systems like Kafka or Pub-sub.

• Experience with data warehouses like Druid, BigQuery, and Redshift.

• Exposure to lower-level languages like Go and Rust.

• You have a strong moral compass that navigates and motivates you.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $190,000 to $204,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
