Your Role

The responsibilities of the Senior Software Engineer - Sustaining Tier 3 are varied and may include, but are not limited to, developing, testing, documenting, and supporting Baxter software products involved in patient monitoring and management of voluminous physiologic data sets. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for using their expanding knowledge of the product line to efficiently complete full-stack programming assignments, trouble shooting of reported issues, and other tasks. This will involve coordinating and executing with the greater Baxter R&D and Services teams to provide superior customer service during technical support procedures both during regular business hours and afterhours.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop software solutions by studying provided requirements, testing systems flow, and investigating problem areas.
  • Design, develop, and modify software components anywhere in the software stack while meeting or exceeding the Baxter software guidelines and coding standards.
  • Document work and solutions with clear and concise code comments and version release documentation.
  • Determine root cause for the most complex software issues and develops practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers on findings during business hours and afterhours technical problem solving.
  • Follow and support the Baxter software development lifecycle by assisting with task planning, resource scheduling, and version release estimations.
  • Prepare and install software solutions during initial implementations, patches, and upgrades.
  • Improve system operations by conducting ongoing systems analysis and recommending changes in designs, policies, and procedures.

What you'll bring

  • Knowledge of C#, C++, and JavaScript languages;
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and newer);
  • Knowledge of .NET framework runtime and library components;
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server (2016 and newer) setup and management;
  • Understanding of the following:
    • LAN/WAN concepts such as DHCP, DNS, and TCP/IP,
    • Network routing and switching in relation to application connectivity needs,
    • Network sniffing and packet analyzing,
    • VPN and related GUI/web-portal based administrative tools,
    • Active Directory and domain policies,
    • VMWare administration,
    • Citrix XenApp application configuration;
  • Very strong verbal communication skills;
  • Aptitude for quickly learning new and advanced concepts;
  • Strong long-term memory capabilities;
  • Professionalism during both verbal and written interpersonal communication;
  • Capability to consistently exercise sound judgment during independent work;
  • Ability to show up for work in the Palm Beach Gardens, FL office during business hours;
  • Availability for afterhours customer support as part of a rotation in a small Tier 3 R&D team.
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher), with computer science, computer engineering, and/or network engineering focus;
  • 3+ years of software testing and/or development.

PREFFERRED ATTRIBUTES

  • 1-2 years of experience working with patient monitoring or other data producing medical devices;
  • 1-2 years of documentation experience in a QMS or with FDA submissions;
  • Knowledge of advanced network and cybersecurity concepts and well-known products a big plus.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $96,000 to $132,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
