Senior Software Engineer, VP - EngHub (Salt Lake City)

OVERVIEW

Core Engineering provides desktop, mobile and developer environments; shared infrastructure; quality and reliability frameworks; data architectures; and technology risk services for Goldman Sachs and its 10,000+ engineers.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

The EngHub team at Goldman Sachs is responsible for building and delivering an internal-facing portal that transforms the way that engineers discover and work with the broad array of products and services that they use on a daily basis. The team provides the tools and best practices that enable our clients to catalog, document, and demonstrate their products using a scalable approach.

This role offers the opportunity to provide a strong impact to the implementation of a cutting-edge platform that highlights the firm's internal engineering products. The site is powered by modern web, server, and data technologies through a combination of best-in-class open-source and cloud-based tools. As part of the team, you will work with a passionate and talented group of developers, product managers, designers and technical writers.

You will help build a scalable, resilient, feature rich platform that supports the team's ambitions to be a truly intelligent business companion.

What you will be doing.

• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle through, design, architecture, build, and delivery of our systems to meet business goals on time and with appropriate quality.
• Take a key role in the development of the full stack using tools including React, Java, Node.js, and NoSQL with a strong interest in sustainable quality.
• Implement opportunities to enrich the architectural solutions and processes to provide for repeatability, auditability, scalability, and sustainable delivery across our systems.
• Contribute to the design, build, support, and evolution of the cloud infrastructure at scale-complete with long-term resolution or early identification strategies, in addition to ensuring that applications have appropriate resilience and reliability according to targets.
• Work alongside a passionate, multi-skilled team, contribute to the broad range of engineering challenges and opportunities while establishing new skills and developing existing ones to the next level.
• Enjoy the challenge of building architecturally sound and elegant solutions.

Basic qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development industry experience.
• Proficient in at least one of the following: Java, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and object-oriented design.
• Good experience in scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Sound experience in versioning and CI/CD tools such as Git, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS CodePipeline, etc.
• Self-motivated and self-managed with ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative team to achieve the organizational goals.
• Knowledge and appetite for best practices across code, build, test, release, and ongoing operational hygiene.
• Willingness to learn and teach others.
• Transparency and collaboration.
• A passion to help us meet our goals.
• Understanding of the OpenAPI specification

Helpful experience:

• Experience with operating and tuning document databases such as MongoDB.
• Experience of cloud platform development with the AWS stack (API Gateway, Cloudwatch, DocumentDB, ECS, Lambda, etc.).
• Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or AWS Cloud Formation.
• Experience debugging and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Appreciation of how to enrich architectural solutions and processes to provide for repeatability, auditability, scalability, and sustainable delivery across the domain.
• Experience of micro-service based architectures.
• Experience of authentication schemes such as OAuth2.
• Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Appreciation of the benefits of automation and continuous improvement.
• Understanding of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and/or firewalls.
