What You Will Contribute To Altos

The Altos Lab Informatics Team is seeking an experienced scientific product leader and implementation expert to build robust, scalable, and user-centric solutions for the systems that power our scientific operations. In this role, you will collaborate directly with Altos scientists to understand, plan, and assist in implementation of capabilities within the Altos Lab Informatics Platform, including assay-specific customizations to Benchling, creation of data models and schemas that connect real-world scientific use cases to generic data capabilities, AI/ML model development for enhanced workflows, and creation of an end-to-end product vision capturing all stages of scientific workflows. Candidates for this role must have extensive hands-on experience in cellular biology and biochemical assays for diagnostics and will leverage this experience to understand existing institutional constraints/mindsets and identify opportunities to optimize scientific workflows. In addition to a deep scientific background, this role requires exceptional communication and organizational skills, a user-centric mindset to solving problems, and a proven track record in managing teams and driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the product vision for Altos Lab Informatics Platform, including end-to-end vision connecting Altos-specific scientific workflows to integrated data platforms, including strategic direction, tactical operations and project management.
• Work with Altos scientists to implement customized, assay-specific workflows and data models in the Altos Lab Informatics Platform. This includes, but is not limited to, Benchling Template, Entity, and Inventory implementations.
• Collaborate with Altos computational scientists to implement and rollout models (eg ML models) to improve Lab Informatics user experience.
• Perform user research into scientific workflows and methods and synthesize findings to define next generation tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Software Engineering, Scientific Operations, Hubs, and Labs to establish a Altos-wide perspective for the Altos Lab Informatics Platform
• Coordinate the work of scientists and implementation engineers to deliver new features and functionality to the Altos Lab Informatics Platform

Who You AreMinimum Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a life sciences field (biology, biochemistry, etc.)
• 5+ years hands-on experience working in a lab setting, including experience developing biochemical assays.
• 3+ years working in both academic and industry settings.
• Proven work experience in product or program management leading development of scientific systems and/or processes and translating scientific systems to biomedical products.
• Experience with Benchling or similar laboratory informatics platforms.
• Experience with scientific research process and how to align with translatable product development.
• Proven track record of managing all aspects of scientific product development throughout its lifecycle.
• Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams, including research and engineering organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AI/ML model development is a plus
• Experience with early-stage biotechnology companies is a plus.

The salary range for Redwood City, CA:

• Senior Software Product Manager: $159,800 - $216,200
