Senior Software Test Engineer (Eagan, MN)
Job Description
Job Duties: Develop test plans to test new and existing software, debug code, and improve the usability of software products, while being responsible for ensuring reliability and availability of said products.
Duties Include:
1. Work on agile team utilizing agile principles and practices such as peer reviews, pair programming and daily stand-up meetings.
2. Coordinate with business users to determine requirements and designs.
3. Translate requirements into test cases and provide accurate estimates & timelines for completion of the work.
4. Work closely with QA manager, fellow testers, developers, Dev manager and business analysts.
5. Collaborating with the software development team to perform proper testing of features.
6. Mentor and provide technical direction for other QA team members.
7. Perform various testing types like front-end feature testing, backend testing, cross browser testing, negative testing, smoke testing and ad-hoc testing.
8. Conduct smoke, regression testing as part of release cycles when deploying from lower to higher environments
9. Debug web applications using the in-built developer tools in Internet Explorer and Chrome and Firebug add on in Mozilla Firefox.
10. Testing applications developed in Azure Cloud and database testing using NoSQL database
11. Develop, publish, and implement test plans; write and maintain test cases using Azure DevOps.
12. Create and maintain test data; document and re-verify all defects. Identify and investigate issues in development, test and production environments
13. Developing high-level test design and test strategy documentation.
14. Write integration tests using NUnit framework and C#.
15. Resolve complex problems using object-oriented design patterns such as Factory, Inversion of Controls, Dependency Injection, using C# and .NET framework.
16. Develop an automation testing strategy, QA coding standards.
17. Lead the development of automation testing framework that includes microservices testing as well as UI automation.
18. Design, code, test, and execute test case scenarios for manual as well as automated testing using Selenium C#
19. Use Microsoft Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps for backlog management and GitHub/Git for version control
20. Perform API testing using POSTMAN to ensure that the endpoints are functioning correctly.
21. Manage/triage software defects/issues related to the software product as per business direction.
Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or a related field, plus 5 years' experience testing complex, technical application. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include the following:
1) 3 years' experience working with all phases of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in Req. gathering, Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, & Testing.
2) 3 years' experience using C# for development of API automated tests.
3) 2 years' experience delivering test frameworks, test tools, leading the QA projects and initiatives.
4) 2 years' experience with the software tools and techniques used in automated testing or other process automation (e.g., Selenium).
5) 2 years' experience working with Product Managers, Architects, Developers, and reviewing technical artifacts.
6) 2 years' experience with Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps along with Visual Studio/Git for version control, agile backlog management and software integration.
7) 1 year of experience testing API's and RESTful web services using Postman or Swagger.
8) 1 year experience working in an Agile software development environment.
9) 1 year experience on-boarding and mentoring entry level testers.
