The Senior Solution Architect is a key member of the Technology team who sits in a Product Journey Stage helping shape technology solutions to deliver experiences that delight our customers. The Sr. Solution Architect is charged with driving the solution and execution of Carmax technology as it applies to the Journey Stage. The Sr Solution Architect plays a critical role driving the technology strategy and implementation by partnering with Enterprise Architecture, Product leadership team, Lead Developers, and Technology Infrastructure. Additionally, the Sr Solution architect is ensuring the appropriate implementation of standards and is responsible for the delivery of key objectives for the Journey Stage. The Sr Solution Architect will partner with Enterprise Architecture influencing the future technology landscape of the Journey Stage to ensure that Carmax technology solutions continue to deliver an unrivaled experience.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technology solution leadership to leaders across the Product Journey Stage. Responsible to evaluate technology fit, provide potential alternatives through analysis of the competitive landscape and leading proofs of concepts (POC), proofs of technology (POT), prototype creation and architectural spikes.

• Design architecture solutions for delivery teams aligning the EA / product vision, stakeholder requirements and future capabilities and educate the team on this vision.

• Coach and lead developers and technical leads on best practices, reusability, development best practices and understanding technical debt as well as the impact of these on availability and stability SLAs

• Document best practices, development patterns and standards, technology implementation, lead code review sessions and drive education and adoption of standards through the product teams

• Partner with product group leadership across the Journey Stage to assist in the development of solution designs and roadmaps including timeline, budget, team structure and skillset requirements.

• Assist in attracting, recruiting and retaining a strong bench of skilled and engaged associates

• Responsible for defining and achieving Key Results for the Journey Stage

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related Technology field or equivalent experience

• 8+ years of work experience
• Expertise in Multiple Public and Private cloud Technologies

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Plano, TX or Richmond, VA CarMax Technology Innovation Center and have a Hybrid work arrangement
