Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience
Work Experiences:
- 8+ years working with strategic vendor sourcing, procurement, international trade or similar work experience
- 2+ years of experience supervising others
- Retail experience preferred
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internal and external
- Advanced organizational skills required to mitigate risk and meet multiple deadlines in frequently changing environment
- Ability to analyze, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts to make effective business decisions
- Responds positively to change, embracing and using new practices or values to accomplish goals and solve problems
- Builds and maintains highly skilled and motivated team by leading with integrity, propelling the team to the successful execution of goals and providing developmental opportunities
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle and production management
- Ability to execute seasonal development of vendor matrix, country of origin assessment, and sourcing strategy
- Advance knowledge of Import Logistics, customs, and Factory Compliance. Understanding of Quality Assurance
- Ability to determine Key Performance Indicators, analyze results, formulate and implement corrective action plans
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required; advanced Excel and Power Point skills preferred
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers using fact based approach and market insights driven from cost modeling, commodity and currency impacts and competition
- Lead a team of sourcing managers with category management and financial responsibilities
- Conduct final cost negotiations to achieve financial objectives for assigned category
- Collaborate with Private Brand stakeholders to create the overall strategy for assigned categories
- Identify best practices to evolve process year over year
- Develop aggregate buying and nominated material supplier strategy for area of responsibility in alignment with departmental criteria
- Monitor purchase order conformity and ensure open to buy accuracy
- Prepare and conduct presentations to management and vendors; lead cross functional team meetings as required
- Identify risks that may affect category performance; develop and lead efforts to prevent/mitigate risks
- Identify new suppliers; develop and maintain supplier relationships that achieve Private Brands sourcing strategy, company goals and adhere to Academy's ethical standards
- Develop and monitor KPI's to maximize the achievement of business goals
- Increase technical knowledge of assigned product categories to: improve timelines, mitigate sourcing risks and reduce costs by identifying production run opportunities, re-engineering of products and supplier consolidation
- Implement necessary changes to supplier base after careful risk assessment and category growth opportunities
- Coach and develop a team of Sourcing professionals throughout their employment lifecycle with Academy, inclusive of hiring, conducting annual reviews and managing performance.
- Lead the creation and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures
- Govern supplier training of operational and compliance standards
- Identify areas for process improvement
- Participate in the interview and performance management process for assigned team
- Develop thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures and safety rules
- Duties may change, team members may be required to perform other duties as assigne
Physical Requirements & Attendance
- Up to 10% travel required; overnight stays as needed
- Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
- Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior
