Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Consults with stakeholders to analyze, define, and prioritize business requirements and functional and operational specifications for a functional work stream. Formulates and defines program scope and objectives for the work stream with thorough understanding of business processes in a specific business domain. Represents the business to all areas of IT in resolving issues and developing technology solutions. May lead staff on specific projects.
  • Elicits, challenges, and prioritizes business requirements; translates into functional design and use case models. Develops project scope and identifies objectives, constraints, issues, risks, and assumptions for large programs. Is accountable for overall delivery of assigned functional work stream on a large-scale program. Aligns resources, seeks input from key constituents, and manages others to achieve desired results.
  • Provides guidance on development of the functional requirements and user documentation for system enhancements. Assists in developing implementation plans. Manages scope and change throughout the initiative utilizing formal change control and requirements traceability.
  • Gathers and analyzes information and develops recommendations to address major business objectives that span multiple, global business and technology areas. Works with business and technology teams to develop technology roadmap strategy
  • Trains users on new or enhanced applications and/or systems of higher complexity. Serves as point of contact or subject matter expert for the business on Aladdin OMS and ABOR system.
  • Provides technical consultation concerning business implications of complex application development projects. Supports testing of new or enhanced applications and/or systems and provides guidance to the investment team (portfolio managers) of system usage
  • May lead a small team on moderately complex projects; No direct reports, provides guidance to investment members. Leads projects and allocates work accordingly.

ROLE SPECIFICS :
  • Work closely with the Mellon investment teams to help identify portfolio management system/platform efficiencies (Aladdin OMS tool), trouble shoot issues, help drive development roadmap and service as general subject matter expert
  • U nderstand the day-to-day investment process, critical times, and how it into the end-to-end support process (trading, investment, compliance, operations, settlement, etc.)
  • Build strong relationships across the investments end-to-end support model to foster collaboration, efficiencies, and proactive response to issues/projects
  • Serve as the primary investment team point of contact/escalation point for the BRS relationship managers and Share Instance Review Group (SIRG) to represent Mellon's interests and viewpoint
  • Manage the Aladdin enhancement and development list and prioritization with BRS
  • Run yearly relationship management meeting with senior BRS and Investment executives
  • Engage with the investment teams to understand the required development asks for Aladdin and prioritization
  • Work with senior management to understand the future state (1-2-5 year plan) for the business and help work with BRS to translate that into meaningful development asks/roadmap
  • Be at the table translating the business impact of an Aladdin Business Continuity event
  • Escalation point of contact for investment team on day-to-day issues with the platform; manage/trouble shoot Aladdin issues. Root cause, resolution, and implementation
  • Project manage Aladdin implementations/enhancements/new fund launches/new product launches. Bring the right folks to the table to get it done.
  • Field questions from clients on the Aladdin platform and its usage (if needed)
  • Report to COO and senior executives on Aladdin current/future state/issues/concerns/resolutions
  • Work closely with Technology on how Aladdin integrates and lives in the business technology structure

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Significant experience either on Aladdin as a user or supporting Aladdin users or the platform; solid understanding of investment workflows and processes in Aladdin. Similar experience on other Portfolio Management systems/platforms with financial services firms will also be considered.
  • Experience with Equity markets and securities; Fixed Income experience also desirable.
  • Experience with investment management support operations functions
  • Knowledge of Index & ETF fund management and process a plus

Provides guidance in development of the technical design, test plans, and user documentation. Leads implementation/conversion strategy planning and implementation. Manages scope and change throughout the initiative utilizing formal change control and requirements traceability. Gathers and analyzes information and develops recommendations to address strategic business objectives that span multiple, global business and technology areas. Participates in industry forums and keeps current on domain knowledge for their specific business and application areas of expertise. Applies experiences across various software and/or systems development processes to define and collect metrics and identify and implement opportunities for improvement to increase quality of requirements and speed time-to-market. Actively influences software and/or systems development process improvement initiatives. Contributes to the achievement of related area objectives.
