What you will be doing

The Senior Specialist, Business Communications role is responsible for internal employee communications and enablement content for AmerisourceBergen's Customer Operations and Customer Service teams.

This individual will work collaboratively with all areas of the business, communications, human resources, executive leadership, operations, and other teams to develop and execute internal communications strategies that drive business performance, enables team member performance, and supports the company and business unit strategy and annual financial plans.
  • Execute annual communications plan aligned to Customer Operations strategy and goals including key message development, leadership communications, town halls, customer-facing materials and team member enablement tools.
  • Participate in content strategy discussions and develop and execute on internal communications plans for content that is relevant and engaging for target audiences.
  • Creates connectivity to the AmerisourceBergen enterprise including brand, messaging and channel strategy.
  • Leverage existing technology to determine trends in engagement/readership and use that data to enhance communications channels.
  • Develops a quarterly dashboard to demonstrate value of communications activities.
  • Develop and establish processes for business communications function with the goal of maximizing efficiency - including communications policies and engagement strategy, distribution list management, channel technologies (Salesforce Marketing Cloud), digital signage, employee newsletter content and internal mobile communications application.
  • Channel ownership and strategy for our internal communications mobile application.
  • Work on "quick turn" content deliverables that are rapidly produced along with long-term projects that involve collaboration with business leaders and functional partners across the organization.
  • Build rapport with internal stakeholders and becomes a trusted advisor within the business units/teams and at the enterprise level.
  • Research and stay abreast of latest trends, best practices and technologies in internal and enablement communications to ensure content remains fresh and engaging for our diverse workforce.
  • Take ownership of deliverables and meet writing deadlines by effectively managing the deliverable lifecycle, including review and approval cycles with peer editors, internal business owners, etc.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Business Communications team on cross-functional products and supports Commercial and Operational team communications as needed.
  • Effectively communicate the status of deliverables to peers and leadership within the Marketing and Communications teams.
  • Edit copy produced by internal contributors.

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent post-secondary education in English, Journalism, Communications or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience writing in a corporate setting
  • Experience working collaboratively with Graphic Designers; experience working with clinical experts and/or data analysts to develop content is a plus
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as SharePoint
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint
  • Outstanding writing skills
  • Comfortable learning new technology
  • Knowledge of leading style guide standards and rules
  • Analytical/critical-thinking skills for understanding complex solutions while defining them in succinct, persuasive written responses
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and complex environment, proactively seeking guidance on complex tasks, as needed
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and to practice strong organizational skills when faced with multiple, time-sensitive priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with experience working as part of a team to complete complex and time-sensitive projects
  • Must be able to work according to deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of computers to operative effectively with PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook
  • Solid teamwork - operates from a "team first" mentality
