Senior Specialist: MES Technical Lead

As an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Technical Lead, you will be responsible for specialised development of MES systems in a manufacturing environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including production teams, automation engineers, software developers, and other engineers to design, develop, and maintain MES systems that meet the requirements of the manufacturing process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the design and development of specialised components of MES systems in a manufacturing environment

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement

• Develop and maintain MES software applications, databases, and interfaces

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with MES system components, including hardware, software, and networks

• Conduct testing and validation of MES system functionality and performance

• Train production personnel on the use of the MES system

• Provide technical support for the MES system and related software applications

• Stay up to date with emerging MES technologies and best practices

• Mentor and lead engineers in the development and implementation of MES systems

• Develop and maintain documentation related to the MES system

• Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers

• Provide input and recommendations for MES system strategy and direction

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Educational Qualifications:

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering

Professional Qualifications:

• TrakSYS Certified Engineer

• TrakSYS Certified Solutions Architect

Years of Experience:

• At least 15 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of successful MES system design and implementation

Other requirements:

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies

• Experience with MES software development and implementation, including customizations and integrations with other systems.

• Experience with SCADA systems

• Familiarity with databases, SQL, and data analysis tools
