Job Summary

The Regional Product Communications team is looking for a Senior Specialist, Regional Communications (Eastern US) to join the team. The team is looking for a creative storyteller with a passion for understanding and promoting all aspects of the business - including product attributes, marketing activities and sales - surrounding an assigned brand, nameplate and/or product line to the media and influencers in the western region of the United States. This role manages media relations, including preparation of news releases, social and broadcast media opportunities. Responsible for the message, logistics and execution of media programs at a grass-roots level within the region.

Job functions:

  • With NNA Product team, oversee Nissan's regional press fleet and work closely with regional press fleet offices to order vehicles, secure loans with relevant media and ensure the timely completion of maintenance and recall servicing
  • Continuously assess press fleet utilization and provide recommendations to improve loan quality and efficiency
  • Maintain and expand relationships with journalists and influencers to position Nissan products, services and initiatives for target customers
  • Coordinate with regional sales / marketing VPs and teams
  • Identify, propose and prioritize media events and activities that provide the greatest return on investment in alignment with team goals and objectives
  • With NNA HQ team(s), coordinate and execute regional press drives and events
  • Identify and secure opportunities to engage media at regional auto shows and events as appropriate, attending in-person as required
  • Assist in the implementation of strategic plans for vehicles assigned for media use, and ensure that all press vehicles are prepared in accordance with engineering guidelines
  • Act as a company spokesperson for in-market media opportunities when appropriate
  • Manage an annual budget and maximize its return on investment; partner with appropriate finance contacts to ensure the completion and accuracy of ERF and event form requests
  • Partner with agency teams to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of media programs, activities and materials
  • Keep up with competitor activities, media intelligence and provide this information to team and appropriate management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Job Knowledge and Skill: Knowledge of media-relations protocol and effective methods of disseminating product information to the public; the ability to provide positive, professional representation before the media and public; strong oral and written communication skills and stand-up presentation skills. Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders and interface with all staff levels. Creativity and a willingness to share new ideas. Skilled at managing through ambiguity. Juggler manage multiple projects and perform well under pressure. Ability to manage multiple daily, short-term and long-term deadlines and priorities simultaneously. Excellent efficiency, accuracy, organization and attention to detail. Experience in 'managing' agency teams and working cross-functionally in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience: Six (6) or more years of directly related professional level Communications experience, which could include experience in the news media. Automotive media relations preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related Communications discipline required. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of word processor, spreadsheet, other PC applications, or mainframe applications to produce non-standard, creative products. Comfortable in most common social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

  • Travel Requirements: Up to 40% travel required to host/participate in various Nissan and team events with advanced to limited notice. Availability needed for occasional weekend and night work.
