Job Purpose
The Senior Stakeholder Engagement Specialist is responsible for meeting the outreach and education needs of National Grid's gas and electric complex capital infrastructure improvement projects. As part of multiple project teams, the Senior Specialist will be responsible for a multimillion-dollar portfolio of complex construction projects, implementing strategic community relations campaigns to safeguard the on-time and on-or-under budget build-out of these projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Represent the Company as the Subject Matter Expert for stakeholder and community relations for complex construction projects
- Create and manage the outreach and marketing collateral needed for the educational needs of a variety of audiences supporting a portfolio of electric and gas complex capital projects
- Develop project messaging, boiling technical information down to messaging that is easily understood by the layperson
- Plan and execute project-related events, including open houses and public statement hearings
- Work with internal and external stakeholders throughout planning, permitting, construction, and post-construction phases of projects to solve issues around project impacts, including noise, traffic, visual, recreation, etc.
- Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with external and internal (ie. VPs, Directions, Managers, Engineering, Legal, Environmental, Project Management, and Customer and Community) within a defined geographic footprint in support of complex capital projects to ensure community and municipal relationship management is embedded into National Grid's standard practice for all complex capital projects
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Communications, Political Science, Environmental Science, or other related field, and 7+ years of related experience
Experience with customer, community, and municipal relations
Strong writing skills, including official documents and marketing materials
Strong verbal communication skills, including public speaking, with experience in communicating in potentially contentious forums
Proficient in relevant software, including Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
Proficient project management and time management skills
Work within a team to plan and execute for outreach and education, and to respond to stakeholder questions
Manage the execution of outreach plans with internal stakeholders across disciplines (e.g., Strategic Communications, Jurisdiction, Economic Development, etc.)
Communicate complex engineering, environmental, construction, and regulatory information
Develop informative, professional letters and collateral
Plan and execute successful events in potentially contentious environments
Available for 24/7 emergency coverage, evening meetings and presentations.
Experience in utility or construction industry a plus
Travel required, including off-hours on occasionValid driver's license required

Salary
$82,000 - $95,000 a year
